Tie Anything Down With 3 Simple Knots.
Bowline, Trucker's Hitch, Half Hitch
When I was a guide in Wyoming, I learned a great series of knots from my boss, Joe Bressler. Joe was a Wyoming kid who grew up guiding fishing trips, horsepacking, Elk Hunting, and camping. He definitely knew how to secure something for transport and showed me this combination so that we could tie the boat to the trailer. At the time, I had no idea how valuable these knots would be in my fishing career and beyond. I have used them for all types of boats, Kayaks, SUP, and uses ranging from moving to getting ready for a fraternity party to making a clothesline.
The three knots are the Bowline (click here for video) , Trucker's Hitch and Half Hitch. With these knots you can secure anything for transport in a way that creates a mechanical advantage and truly secures your boat, cooler, bed, couch or whatever you are moving. The great thing about this combination is that all of these knots are easily untied after any amount or torque is put on them.

All outdoorsmen need to know how to do this. There will be a day when you lose your ratchet strap and you need to tie down your boat (Required by law in many States) or you may have to help your 22 year old son strap a couch to the top of his Mini Cooper. Whatever you need it for, these three simple knots will help you tie down anything.
I hope this helps
All the best,
